PCI
requires merchants to protect credit card numbers on their system by encrypting
all card numbers. Gateway Solutions has developed a way for customers to meet
these requirements without making changes to their existing programs, and with
little or no ongoing customer intervention or maintenance. This package uses 168
bit Triple DES encryption to secure TLF, ALT_TLF, BCF, ACV002, TDV002, DDV002, CCV002,
report files, switch report files, and other files as the customer or auditors deem
necessary. It uses configuration files so customers can specify which files
they choose to encrypt. It also comes with a batch file conversion program for
encrypting and decrypting any non ON/2 related files they wish to secure. Since
files are encrypted on the disk, all tape backup are secure as well. The system
is fully compatible with the Ingrian hardware key management devices to ensure
secure key value generation and storage.
In order to ensure a secure
environment for retail point of sale (POS) transactions PCI standards have
required merchants to enhance their security methods. One way to ensure this is
secure communications from the POS system to the Host. GSI has developed an
SSLV3 interface that allows customers with older Stratus systems (models prior
to VOS Continuum PA8XXX series) to run an SSL environment without the need to
purchase the Stratus OpenSSL package, or upgrade their hardware. This allows
customers to save money by not having to upgrade hardware, upgrade O/S
versions, buy additional software from Stratus or
application providers. It also avoids the need to pay additional license fees
to application providers because they may have their license fees are based on
hardware implemented. There is no need to disrupt your current environment or
delay other projects since hardware and software upgrades aren't required. The
result is a secure environment at minimal cost, and with minimal disruption.
In order to ensure a secure
environment for retail point of sale (POS) transactions in large POS networks,
Visa has required merchants to enhance their security methods. One of the best
ways to do this is to ensure each device that handles a customer entered
personal identification number (PIN) has a unique encryption key. Realizing
that maintaining a large network of hundreds or thousands of POS devices can be
cumbersome and expensive, the clear choice in this arena is a Derived Unique
Key Per Transaction (DUKPT) encryption method. Using
this system ensures that each device has its' own encryption key, and changes
that value for each transaction it handles. The beauty of this method, is that it can require as litlle
as 1 master key to bemaintained centrally, while
still allowing millions of devices to each have their own encryption value.
Gateway Solutions can implement this encryption for you, with no disruption to
your current POS environment. We have a successful track record of implementing
our DUKPT package with no down time or disruption during complete production
roll out. We can assist you with key generation, device key injection, ON/2
software upgrades, Hardware Secutrity Module (HSM)
upgrades, testing, Beta sites, and production roll out. We can design a custom
project plan for your unique set of requirements and environment. Call us today
and see how easy it can be to implement a new security method, without having to know all the 'black magic' that
happens behind the scenes.
The current DES encryption standard
has served the industry well for over 25 years. With the use of dynamic key
management the customer's personal identification number has been secure up
until now. With the advent of more powerful computers available to hackers,
this security is in jeopardy. As a result, the major networks, including Visa
and Mastercard have mandated stroger
security measures be implemented to protect both merchant and customer. This
new standard is the Triple DES encryption method, and must be in place for
2005. So what does this mean to you, and your network? Quite simply, you must
get three different pieces on your side ready in order to remain compliant. You
must ensure devices, host software, and the encryption device
are all upgraded an in place in order to avoid network compliance fines.
Gateway Solutions already has a successful track record of putting these things
in place, so you can worry about your customers instead of your encryption
systems. We can upgrade your software, ensure your hardware security module is
at the proper level, help with key generation and management and test your
devices to guarantee compliance.
If you are currently running
ON/2 from S2 Systems, on a Stratus X/AR or Continuum system, you may be losing
significant horsepower due to misaligned data structures. By
installing the Gateway Solutions Alignment Fault Wrapper package, you can realie significant performance improvements, and delay
costly future hardware upgrade purchases. This package automatically
aligns data structures, without any changes to your current source code. Paul
Green, an original author of VOS, and current Stratus CAC employee, recognized
the need for a package like this. We will measure current alignment faults in
your system, using your current production code. we
will then install our package and perform the same measurements after
installation. Your actual results, usaing your code,
will be documented for your information and approval. We can prove the
performance enhancement, and document the reduction in number of alignment
faults!
Customer convenience and
lower costs are always on every retailers mind. Gift Certificates help ensure
future sales and customer loyalty, provide a mechanism for charity
organizations to raise money, and provide another convenience to offer your
customers. An electronic GiftCard offers these same
advantages, while lowering the costs involved for materials, records keeping,
and in-lane transaction time. Gateway Solutions has implemented GiftCard syetms for our
customers, and they have realized these benefits. Whether you are considering a
private label card, or universal GiftCard, we can
help you ensure you remain competitive with others in your area. For private
label cards, we can either provide a switch interface to major GiftCard service beauraus such as
Valuelink, or implement a system that allows you to
control everything 'in-house'. For universal type giftcards
such as those offered by companies like Safeway, we can provide the
connectivity and reporting required to make this service availble
to your customers. Contact us for a system that meets your exact requirements.
While credit losses for bad
cards are no longer an undue hardship for blind stand in, wouldn't it be nice
to know your liability is limited during the time when you must do this? That’s
where intelligent stand in, makes sense. By validating BIN files, having the
option to validate check cashing status, and or frequent shopper status, and the
ability to limit overall stand in liability you can sleep easy, while your
customers continue to enjoy using their payment of choice.
When an unexpected network
outage occurs, your customers shouldn't have to suffer. YOU shouldn't have to
take unnecessary risks to prevent this. That’s where a stand in debit
system can keep both you and your customers happy. We allow you several options
to minimize your risk while standing in for a network that is unavailable for
any reason. We allow you to choose to stand in only for your customers with
loyalty or check cashing cards, or only for a customer in a valid bin range for
that network. We can also set limits for individual customers, as well as for
the entire system to limit your liability. With these safeguards in place, you
can ensure the good customers walk away happy, while still being able to rest
assured write-offs will be very minimal. We have implemented systems using both
master session and DUKPT encryption, and have been given certification by NYCE
that the system is within network security standards.
